week 4 garden update
A sad turn of events for my beloved garden…. sigh. Well we had a short heat wave this past week which wiped out the majority of my garden. The seedlings were about 3 weeks too young to handle the head, especially the cucumbers and lettuce. So I was forced to replant them, but i am starting them inside for the first 5 weeks which should be long enough.
Also my tomatoes succumbed to the heat as well, but for those I have no decided to just buy the plants instead of trying to grow them from seeds. My aunt told me she had never been able to grow them from seeds, so I went out yesterday and picked up a hybrid that is perfect for small containers and I will update with photos next week.
So yeah pretty shitty I know! Anyways i go back to school on Monday…. sigh. Tonya is in Hawaii for her late brothers memorial service at his former post. She left yesterday and now its just me here alone till Jack moves in sometime within the next few day.
I finished reading my second book of the break. No, nothing school related. I finished A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier. It was very good. An eye opener and very descriptive. It’s the life story of the author Ishmael. Very good read, I highly recommend it! The second book was The Catcher in the Rye. Not a big fan I’ll be honest. I don’t really understand why this book is so highly regarded, but overall it was a good read
